you'll never ask
and i'll never tell
but sometimes
i can't tell where
the story ends and
the s(k)in begins

there is so much more to us than our silences will admit.

things that make me laugh.
I'm trying to get a handle on blogging from the car. it's kind of annoying, but I feel like I should put the effort in if i really want to try this blogging every day thing. hey, maybe i can even hit that 50,000 word nanowrimo mark (but let's not get ahead of ourselves here, i'd be happy with 500)

blogging from the car is different. i feel more unfiltered, like bloggy concentrate, just because typing via iPhone is so annoying that once the words are down i don't want to have to go back and erase them. autofill has already done some interesting things to my sentences (i'm forseeing some silly typos this month).

the momster is pulling the old text-drive-yell-via-speakerphone routine. one of these days she's going to get pulled over by a police officer who'll still ticket her despite her glare of intimidation (or annoyance, it's kind of hard to tell). I can't wait, it'll probably be pretty funny.

this is one of the days where i feel selfish. i want all the things i don't (can't) have, starting with time. when will this year be over?

sleeping in parking lots

everything you do is elegant
even your silences are eloquent
and if there were words for what I want to do (want from you)
i'd say i feel like feeling something new

right now the sky is blueblackgray. right now there are people coming and going and talking and living. it's strange to realize that everyone you see, all the time, every day is a person. that's such a silly, conceited thing to say, but it doesn't make it any less true. it's strange to look around the parking lot and realize, even for just a second, that everyone means something. is something. is defined just as much by what they mean to someone else as they are by what they wear and how they act and where they are. really, it's just a strange thing to realize how much you judge people, even when you don't mean to. strange and humbling, and stranger still when you try to pull that filter away and notice things for the first time, notice things like the backpack covered in pins from just about everywhere in the world, the paint smudges shaped like fingerprints on someone's windows. you notice and you wonder and suddenly there's a story simmering under your skin, a fairytale for every formerly random person you've seen on the street.

people never stop surprising you. sometimes, you surprise yourself.
you stick by the lies because they're all you know or have
(i know what it's like to want and wish you didn't)

blogolating

hmm, so nothing much happened today. worked on my college essays (they're really awful, i'm giving it a week and then i'll go back and revise them into something less terrible). found some music. read a little more potter and am working my way through oryx and crake by margaret atwood. it's such a good book; her writing's so lovely and atmospheric and creepy (well, it is about the apocalypse).

oh, and my preorder on itunes for the glee soundtrack downloaded today, so my ipod is basically the happiest thing on earth (see what i did there? with the glee and the happy and the punning? yea? yea? ok, i'll admit it, i really am this lame)

and aladdin's playing on tv right now, so i'm just going to go watch that.

go where you want to go

mondays are sad days, even when it's a day off.

nanowrimo started today. that's partially why this monday's such a sad day. i really wanted to do it this year, but...college applications. it's so not going to happen. so i'm going to try to blog every day instead. buckle up and hold on -- it's going to be a bumpy ride of blogging inanity.

i've been on a weepies kick lately. (as in: currently listening to can't go back now)

listen to them, isn't this song (and video) just the best? yea, i think so. you probably don't. one day i'll finally find just one person who shares my taste in music...or bully my friends into pretending they do.

i'm re-reading harry potter 5 right now (it was a birthday present from s-la, isn't she wonderful?) well, sort of. when i re-read the potters i try to drag it out as long as possible. keep the magic going, you know? there's something about the harry potter books and narnia and lord of the rings that just takes me right back to being a sixth grader in pennsylvania, all long snowy winters and curling up with a booklight.

i love winter. i hate being cold, but there's something about decembers that just makes all the cold go away, if that makes any sense. i can't wait for christmas! it's pretty early (well, not according to the grocery stores...candy canes are already out!), but i'm just starting to feel that holiday urge now.

i'll end this on a happy note. cookie says hi!
